LiKe Bikes - Greenways Cycle Hire
Activity/Program:
Like Bikes - Greenways Cycle Hire is holding a free demonstration day for older adults with low mobility and people with a physical disability to trial and experience our range of inclusive bikes & trikes to cycle along the Limerick Greenway.
Older adults and people with limited mobility can avail of the opportunity to go on a cycle at an easy pace, taking in the sights and sounds along one of Ireland's newest Greenways.
This new inclusive fleet includes:
(1) Power Assisted Wheelchair Handbikes - These are electric powered front wheel attachments, which fit most rigid frame wheelchairs. They combine the advantages of a manual handbike with a power assist device.
(2) An Electric Easy Ryder Trike - The electric easy rider gives you stability and a safe feeling with a modern design. The unique seat offers optimum riding comfort and makes getting on and off very easy, especially in combination with the low entry step-up.
(3) Electric Duo Bike - Suitable for 2 people, on the electric duo bike, the guide and passenger are seated right next to each other and it is possible to let the passenger pedal actively, passively, or not at all. This bike is super easy to get on and off, and its ergonomic design ensures a stable and safe ride.
(4) Electric Trike -The electric trike is for users who need more stability and extra safety. The low entry height ensures that you can easily get on and off.
Our bike fleet also has a tandem bike and E-Bikes. The bikes will be located at Abbeyfeale Trailhead of the Greenway and hired for free from LiKe Bikes by booking through our phoneline where members of the public can ring to select the appropriate bike and slot they require. LiKe Bikes staff will be on site on the day to facilitate this as well as assist with the correct use of these bikes.
These demonstration sessions are free and last 1 hour.

Orienteering Ireland
Activity/Program:
Orienteering MapRun activity at Mungret Inclusion Park in Limerick - Thursday 21st July 12:00 - 14:00.
We have a range of orienteering courses planned, of varying lengths. The courses are designed to suit all abilities, whilst the paths make it perfect for those using wheelchairs or walking aids.
A variety of short courses on paths are 700m, with 10 checkpoints, whilst the longest course is approx 2km.
MapRunF is an app, that when downloaded to your smartphone, is used to participate in an orienteering event. The app will show a map on your screen with the orienteering course marked on it. As you navigate around the course the app records your gps track. When you finish your course the app produces your overall result, and the time taken to visit each control site.
During the Go All Out event we will have control flags at the control sites and have printed maps available for participants, whilst their phones will be used for timing.
There are many MapRun courses in parks and urban areas all around the country and most of these are brilliant for inclusion - you can check them out on the MapRun6 app or https://www.orienteering.ie/what-is-orienteering/maprun/. Why not try some of them.

Activity/Program:
Enjoy a family ride along the Carlingford Lough Greenway with our Mission Cycles Special Needs Piggyback Trailer.
Suitable for children up to around 8 years old, the Mission Piggyback is designed to give more stability with no side-to-side movement. It is ideal for children with a balance problem and any additional needs. The saddle to pedal distance is 57-70cm (24.5-27.5″) and it has a backrest with side supports and harness.
A number of children have been able to cycle with their families on the Carlingford Lough Greenway with this special trailer. It is best attached to an eBike as it weighs 17kg but will attach to a regular hybrid bike.
The Carlingford Lough Greenway is largely flat and there are plenty of places to stop along the shoreline to enjoy a picnic !
Our on-line booking system will show availability on any day at any particular time for 2 hours, 4 hours or the full day. Two hours is optimal.
If you prefer to call to reserve, that's fine too !
Cycling is a great, healthy activity for all the family and you will enjoy amazing scenery and views in every direction.
