Cara Sport Inclusion Ireland has announced its partnership with Irelands leading athleisure brand, Gym+Coffee, as a partner to for their annual ‘Fit For All’ week. The weeklong initiative takes place every year and was developed to increase awareness among people with disabilities, families, carers, and disability services on the benefits of regular exercise, healthy lifestyles as well as create much needed opportunities to participate within the local community. It also gives fitness professionals and leisure centres the chance to upskill and learn more about working with people with disabilities through online training workshops delivered by Cara.
At the Launch of ‘Fit For All’, Adele Biggs, Content Manager at Gym+Coffee said “We are incredibly excited to partner with Cara for their ‘Fit For All’ week and we believe our Make Life Richer ethos is in perfect alignment with Cara’s values. The strength of our brand has always been in our ever-growing community, and we are committed to creating and facilitating an inclusive space for everyone.”
‘Fit For All’ events are delivered by instructors in centres, gyms and activity providers all over Ireland, with the support of Sport Ireland’s Local Sports Partnership Network who help with planning and delivery of inclusive events.
“The main objective of Cara is to create opportunities to ensure people with disabilities can lead healthy and active lifestyles. In 2020, ‘Fit For All’ events were delivered online, due to restrictions, yet over 50,000 people engaged with activities throughout the week. With Gym+Coffee as a new partner, we hope to be able to give greater visibility and awareness to this initiative” explained Niamh Daffy, CEO of Cara.
Leisure centres and fitness professionals throughout Ireland are being invited to register and provide opportunities for people with disabilities to participate and enjoy the benefits of fitness activities during ‘Fit For All’ week which will take place from 11th to 17th October. Leisure centres and fitness professionals can register online at caracentre.ie. Closing date for registrations is 10th October.
Fit For All is funded through Sport Ireland and the Dormant Accounts Fund, and is run in partnership with Ireland Active. As well as events organised in registered venues, online events will include inclusive exercise sessions from Sarah Kerrigan, swimmer, instructor and instagramer at ‘troubleonapegleg’. There will also be online Inclusive Fitness Training for leisure centres and a webinar with key people from the fitness and disability sectors. This year, events will be both online and in-person, depending on each centres capabilities to adhere to strict health guidelines
