Active Disability Ireland are pleased to announce the appointment of Brenda O’Donnell as interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Brenda, who currently holds the position of Strategic Operations Manager, will take over as head of the organisation with immediate effect, following the departure of Niamh Daffy, who stepped down in June after 15 years in the role.
Following the announcement of her appointment, Brenda O’Donnell commented: “It is an absolute honour to accept this post and I am very grateful to the Board for placing their trust in me to lead the organisation as we begin the vital work of implementing our new five-year strategic plan. My journey with Active Disability Ireland started almost eight years ago and over that time the organisation has made a significant contribution to creating a more inclusive Ireland. I look forward to leading our team in the coming weeks and months as we continue to strive for an Ireland where people with disabilities have equal opportunities to be active. I would also like to thank my colleague and outgoing CEO, Niamh Daffy, for all of her support, wisdom and contribution to our organisation over the last 15 years.”
Jon Morgan, Chairperson of Active Disability Ireland, said: “The Board and I are delighted to appoint Brenda O’Donnell as CEO on an interim basis. Brenda is a widely respected professional and has been instrumental in our recovery from the pandemic, and the wider development of the organisation including its recent rebrand and new five-year strategy. Her knowledge, experience and expertise will be of great benefit to guide the wider Active Disability Ireland team in the times ahead.”
